Building brand awareness by creating engaging content strategies for advertising.
J. Chauncey, Writer and Copywriter
FAQ
1. What is a copywriter?
This may seem like a silly question to have on my page, but a lot of smaller businesses don't know what copywriters do, and this is for those who may not know what a copywriter does.
A copywriter is a marketing professional who develops writing strategies for selling products and services, using rhetorical, informative, persuasive, and sometimes even entertaining ways. Copywriters are like graphic designers using words.
If you've ever read an advertisement, chances are it was written by a copywriter.
There are many forms of copywriting ... long-form advertisements, short-form, email marketing, advertorials, white papers, case studies, landing pages, websites, social media advertising, billboards, brochures, magazines, blogging articles, video content, radio scripts, tv commercials, sales letters, direct-response marketing. It can be exciting, informative, humorous, technical, or entertaining. But it has to also grab attention and sell. The goal of copywriting is to sell, but good copy has to have a lot going on.
2. How do know I if I need a copywriter?
Copywriting continues to grow in importance.
By the year 2030, the global copywriting market is estimated to grow from around 35 to 42 billion, according to Coherent Marketing Insights. Companies hire copywriters to improve conversions, increase brand awareness, edit, create engagement, within advertising and other content. It also saves the company the tedious task of scanning through content and words so that it can run its business in other areas. Skilled copywriters focus mainly on their craft, and always looking to fine-tune their work.
If you're a small business, remember that it's not just big companies and ad agencies that use copywriters. Get an advantage by hiring a copywriter for your business. Contact Chauncey Beacon for your small business today by clicking on the contact page.
3. How do you measure success?
This depends on the key performance indicators established by the client. Each client may want something different, and so the first measure of success is to accomplish the writing style that pleases the client.
My personal goals are always to create copy that sells by increasing awareness, consideration, and conversion rates, because it's all part of the sales journey. Clearly leading the customer through the value journey to prevent bounce rates and click-outs is the goal of all copywriting at any stage of the sales funnel. How the copy communicates varies between industries.
4. How do I get what I want from J. Chauncey?
Communicate clearly on your KPIs, providing timely feedback and critique.
5. Are rewrites and revisions free?
Yes. All rewrites and revisions are free. This is not a marketing strategy, but because rewrites and revisions are necessary in the process.
6. What projects do you not work with?
I typically don't take up copywriting or technical writing projects in industries I'm not interested in (like cosmetic products). I perform technical writing for projects within reason of my abilities. That is, I do not take up projects that require expertise in a field in which a specific education is essential for accuracy (for instance, writing mechanical instructions on operating an airline jet).
Refer to the "Industries Served" heading above to see what fields I'm currently writing copy for, and even if your field is not mentioned here (for instance, you are in an industry subordinate to one of the industries I listed) you can still send me a message at the contact form and I can send you some samples.
7. How does an inquiry work?
Send your message at the form on the contact
page telling me who you are, what your company is, and what kind of
copy you're looking for. Correspondence typically happens with email or
Slack. I'll take a look at your existing copy and give you a free
critique.
8. Will you work with advertising agencies?
Absolutely. If you are an advertising agency looking for an independent copywriter, you can send me a message in the contact form. I can send you samples of my work if interested.
9. Do you have a portfolio?
Yes. A PDF portfolio is available upon request.
10. How long does a typical project take?
About as long or short as most copywriters. Allow up to 1 - 2 weeks for a typical project to ensure top quality. But if you need something right away, I need to know up front. I'm not afraid to tackle quick projects, so if that's what you need, then I'll get it done.
